Please Vote for Authors, Publishers and Social Media: Hug it Out

by mariaschneider on August 17, 2009

sxsw-2010I’ve been invited by the creators of Visual Bookshelf—the cool Facebook app that helps writers connect with readers—to moderate a panel discussion at SXSW 2010.

The programming for SXSW is narrowed down to finalists and put up for a popular vote. It would be fabulous if you could stop by the Interactive 2010 Panel Picker and leave a comment and vote for: Authors, Publishers and Social Media: Hug it out.

Here’s the description:

“Facebook, Twitter, and the Kindle are changing the face of publishing and the channels for book marketing. Learn how best-selling authors and the world’s largest publishing houses are successfully adopting social media marketing tactics to build a community of millions of book followers online, with little to large budgets.”

Authors, publishers and social media are three of the most prominent topics on this blog, so obviously it would be a tremendous experience for me to speak at the premiere social media conference, SXSW. I’d appreciate the opportunity to be able to report back from the conference on what’s new and useful in the social media landscape for writers.

So if you have a moment, please check out this proposed panel discussion, offer your comments and vote for our Authors, Publishers and Social Media: Hug it out panel.

Thanks, as always, for your support! I’ll let you know if it’s a go.

You’re doing SXSW! Cool. Now I’m tempted to sign up for it. Somehow I just don’t see that happening, but I’ll be sure to follow it as closely as I can via Twitter and blogs. Congrats.

I’ll go take a look see at the poll now.

Thanks Cheryl and Jon. No promises yet, there are lots of proposed panels. That’s what this voting thing is all about. But yes, I’m excited about the possibility of participating in SXSW too! Hope it works out.
