by mariaschneider on November 17, 2008

This week’s writing prompt is short and sweet. Finish the sentence:

You know you’re a writer when…

You can post your answers (100 words or less) here and on the forum. Witty, pithy, sarcastic and thoughtful remarks are encouraged and appreciated. I’ll post a compilation of the answers here next Monday.

Cheers!

… you see your life being narrated by typing of what you are doing in real time … you are typing on a blog wondering if you are making any sense … when you should be working on something else… ooh … lunch time

You know you’re a writer when you correct the punctuation and grammar of the graffiti on the wall of the third stall of the men’s room.

You know you’re a writer when it’s time to find a way to organize your rejection letters.

On a happier note, you know you’re a writer when the ideas start popping and you’ve got to jot them down before they slip away.

You know you’re a writer when you’d rather stay home to finish that chapter than go out and party on a Friday night.

Oh, wait! Sorry. That’s the, you really know your over fifty response.

You know you’re a writer because of a passion that comes from within – you cannot teach it, recreate it, or fake it. You know you’re a writer because you cannot NOT write it down; it’s your sanity on paper.

You know you’re a writer when you get an idea while driving and you pull over to write it down. Then you look in the rear view mirror and there’s a police car in back of you and the officer says, “Are you okay mam?” Then you explain why you stopped and the idea is slipping away.
