To kick things off I wanted to play a little writing game. It’s an exquisite corpse—a community written story—in honor of Halloween.
Here’s how the story starts:
A young man named J.D. is heading out to meet his friends at a downtown bar for a night of Halloween frolicking. He’s dressed as a skeleton and has invested considerable time and energy getting his costume just right. J.D. gets to the bar, finds a possibly-illegal parking spot in an alley, and is just about to get out his car when he sees ….

Good choice on VBulletin for your forums. I have used this system in my previous job (when I oversaw a corporate website), and I thought it was a great system. Flexible and conducive to creating a great community.
